How to Install the Desktop App
Overview
The CAD ROOMS Desktop App connects your local engineering environment with your cloud workspace. It allows engineers to work locally in native CAD software while keeping projects connected to the web platform.
This article explains how to install and sign in to the Desktop App.
System Requirements
- Windows operating system
- Internet connection
- Windows Projected File System enabled (required for sync functionality)
If this feature is disabled, the Desktop App will not sync correctly.
Step 1 — Download the Installer
- Visit the official CAD ROOMS Download Page ( Cooming soon. Please contact the support@cadrooms.com to get the latest installer).
- Click Download, to prompt the following file to be downloaded:
CAD_ROOMS_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe
- Save the installer to your computer.
Step 2 — Run the Installer
Locate the downloaded setup file and double-click to start installation.
- You’ll see the Welcome to CAD ROOMS Setup window. Click Next to continue.

- Select Add/Reinstall components, then click Next.

- Choose the installation directory and click Next again to complete the installation.

✅ Done!
Your desktop app is now installed and ready to connect to your CAD ROOMS workspace. After installation, launch the app and log in using your CAD ROOMS credentials.

Step 3 — Sign In
- Open the CAD ROOMS Desktop App.
- A browser window will open automatically.
- Sign in using your CAD ROOMS credentials.
- After authentication, you will be logged into the Desktop App.
If you do not yet have an account, you can create one during this process.
Troubleshooting: Desktop App Won’t Sync or Start
In some Windows environments, Windows Projected File System may be disabled.
How to Enable It
- Press the Windows key.
- Search for: Turn Windows features on or off.
- Locate Windows Projected File System.
- Check the box.
- Click OK.
- Restart your computer.
After restarting, relaunch the Desktop App.
Updating the Desktop App
When a new version is available, you will receive an in-app notification.
Follow the on-screen instructions to update.
