Navigating the Dashboard

💡
The Dashboard is your starting point in CAD ROOMS — a central hub for accessing your workspaces, projects, files, and collaboration tools. Understanding how to navigate it efficiently helps you stay organized and move quickly between tasks.

When you sign in to CAD ROOMS, you’ll land on the Dashboard, which provides an overview of your work and quick access to key areas of the platform.

Dashboard Overview

The Dashboard gives you direct access to:
  • Workspace: A dedicated environment for managing teams, projects, billing, and workspace-level settings.
  • Projects: View, create, and organize product development initiatives within the selected workspace.
  • Shares: Access files that have been shared with you, even if you are not a member of the originating workspace or project.
  • Settings: Configure account details, workspace options, member permissions, and billing preferences.

This layout ensures you can move easily between organizational setup, active projects, and collaboration tasks.

Search Files

Search helps you quickly locate files without manually browsing through projects.

You can use Search to:
  • Find files by name or keyword
  • Identify files by CAD format (for example: STEP, SLDPRT, ASM, CATPart)
  • See which project a file belongs to
  • Open files directly from the search results
The Search function is available in the top-right corner of the interface and updates instantly as you type.

Search works consistently in both the Web App and Desktop App, making it easy to locate files whether you’re reviewing designs online or working locally.

Understanding Project Cards

Each project card on your dashboard displays key information at a glance:
  • Project Name: The title of your project
  • Activity Indicators: Visual sparklines showing recent project activities.
  • Member Count: Badges showing Members' avatars and team size (e.g., +2, +3 members)
  • Recent Activity: Latest contributions including contributors and timestamps
  • Status Badges: Color-coded indicators showing project state in amber if staged local changes are still pending contribution.
  • Contributions Count: The number of times design changes have been contributed to the project.

These indicators help you quickly assess project health and activity without opening each project.

Multiple Workspaces

You can be part of multiple workspaces, where each is completely separate to ensure:
  • Data privacy between environments
  • Custom team structures for flexibility
  • Focused collaboration per project or client
To switch between workspaces:
  • Click the Workspace selector in the top-left corner of the interface
  • Choose another workspace from the dropdown list
When using the Desktop App, the system tray menu also groups projects by workspace, making it easy to identify which local projects belong to which workspace.

Navigation Tips

  • Use the breadcrumb trail at the top of the interface to move between workspace → project → file levels.
  • Rely on Search to locate files quickly instead of manually browsing large project structures.
  • Return to the Dashboard at any time to get a high-level view of all projects and recent activity.
