How to Manage Starred Files
Overview
Star a file in CAD ROOMS to make it easier to find and access later.
Starred files appear in two places:
- The Starred section at the top of the project’s Cloud Drive.
- The Starred Section in the Workspace navigation, which shows starred files across your Projects
You can star checked-in and checked-out files. Files that are staged and awaiting contribution cannot be starred until they are contributed.
How to Star a File
- Open the Project that contains the file.
- Right-click the file you wish to Star.
- Select Star.
The file now appears in the Starred section at the top of the project’s Cloud Drive list.
It also now is easily accessible on the Workspace-level inside the Starred Section, with quick links to all Starred across Projects.

How to Unstar a File
You can Unstar a file in two ways:
From the Starred Page
On the Starred section, click the Highlighted Star icon next to the file name to toggle off the Star.
From a Project
- Open the project’s Cloud Drive
- Find the file in the Starred section.
- Right-click the file and select Unstar.
The file is removed from your starred views but remains in its original project location. Unstarring a file does not delete it or affect its version history.
When to Use Starring
Use starring to:
- Highlight key assemblies or top-level files
- Quickly access frequently used drawings and reference parts
- Navigate large projects with many files and folders
