Time Travel
The Time Travel feature in CAD ROOMS allows you to explore previous states of your project — a visual timeline that helps you track, review, and restore past design iterations without risk.
What is Time Travel?
Time Travel lets you browse your project as it existed at any historical point. It's like a built-in time machine for your engineering data.
- The Contribution Log (right-hand side) lists all historical contributions chronologically.
- Each entry shows who contributed, when, and what changed.
- A clock-shaped icon appears next to each entry — hover over it to reveal "Browse project at this point."
How to Use It
- Go to the Contribution Log.
- Hover over the version you want to inspect.
- Click the clock icon → "Browse project at this point."
- The system will display the entire project as it existed at that time.
From here, you can:
- ✅ Preview files and structure at that version (all users).
- ✅ Download older files including Viewers.
Safe Exploration
Time Travel does not overwrite the current project.
It's a safe environment to:
- Review older revisions.
- Compare iterations.
- Retrieve legacy designs for reuse or reference.
💡 Tip: Use Time Travel together with CAD Diffing to identify specific design differences between versions.
Why It Matters
- 🔍 Historical clarity — Visualize how designs evolved.
- ✅ Design integrity — Restore or reuse proven stable versions.
- 🧭 Decision context — Understand the reasoning behind changes.
- 🧩 Collaboration continuity — Keep teams aligned across time and iterations.
