Version Control
Version History
Version History in CAD ROOMS provides a complete timeline of project-wide file activity. It helps teams track what’s been added, updated, or removed — ensuring full visibility into every contribution across the workspace.
Overview
Version History records all changes made at the project level.
Each contribution captures who made the change, what files were affected, and when the action occurred.
This gives teams a clear audit trail of the project’s evolution — from initial uploads to final releases.
What It Tracks
Every contribution creates a new entry in the project’s history, including:
- New files added
- Existing files modified or replaced
- Files deleted or restored
Each log entry contains:
- Contributor name
- Timestamp
- Contribution title & description
- File(s) changed
How to View Version History
- Open your Project.
- Go to the Drive and click Contributions.
- You’ll see a timeline of all contributions made to the project.
💡 Tip: Hover over a contribution to open and view related file directly.
Access and Permissions
Access and Permissions
- Admins & Collaborators → Can upload, edit, and create new contributions.
- Viewers → Can only view the contribution history and the file (read-only).
💡 Tip: Always contribute promptly after uploading — un-contributed files stay in staging and won’t appear in version history.
Why It Matters
- 🔍 Traceability — Know exactly who made changes and when.
- 🧩 Accountability — Ensure every edit or upload is properly documented.
- 📂 Version clarity — Maintain a reliable source of truth for all design updates.
