Can I review CAD files without needing a full CAD license?

Yes. CAD ROOMS offers Unlimited CAD Viewers for free. You can View and Measure directly in 3D models and use Precision measurement tools to inspect dimensions in-browser with accuracy,, without needing a CAD license.

Do Guests consume seats?

No. Guests do not consume workspace seats.
Guests are created automatically when you share a file with someone outside your workspace. They appear in your Guest list, can access only the shared files, and don't count toward your paid seat total.

Can I leave comments directly on the 3D model?

Yes. In the 3D Viewer, you can add comments via Annotations.
Annotations are tied to the model and saved in the project history, so teammates can review and reply in context.

How do I share designs with people outside my team (e.g., clients)?

You can share a file directly with an external email:
  1. Open the file in 3D Viewer.
  1. Click the Share icon.
  1. Enter their email address.
  1. Confirm.
External recipients are automatically added to your Guest list. Guests don't consume seats and only see files shared with them.

Can recipients download the source file after I share it?

When sharing designs with external partners or customers via Guest Access, the designs are shared in view-only mode. This approach allows users to share designs safely, "no risk, just clarity".

How do I stop sharing a file?

You can revoke access anytime:
  1. Open the file in the 3D Viewer.
  1. Click the Share icon (top-right).
  1. Find the shared recipient.
  1. Click Remove.
You can also click the Guest tab under Members to Remove the guests. Once removed, that person can no longer access the file.

Does the person I share a link with need an account to view the file?

Yes — everyone needs a CAD ROOMS account to view a shared file.
  • New users (no account yet): they'll get an invitation email, click the link to verify, set a password, and then access the file.
  • Existing CAD ROOMS users: they're added right away and receive an in-platform notification.

How can I delete my shared files?

Two cases:
A) You want to remove the share (but keep the file):
→ Just stop sharing (Remove them from the sharing) via the Share panel (see above).
B) You want to delete the file from the project entirely:
Only users with edit rights (Admins / Collaborators) can delete.
Right-click the file in Files → Delete. If the file was shared, deletion also removes access automatically.

Are my shared files private?

Yes. Shared files are not public.
  • Only explicitly invited recipients can access them.
  • Access is controlled per-file.
  • You can revoke sharing anytime.
  • Guests can't browse other projects or workspace content.

How do I use annotations?

Quick version:
  1. Open a CAD file in the 3D Viewer.
  1. Click the Annotations icon on the left toolbar.
  1. Click "+" to create a new annotation.
  1. Place it on the model, write your note, and @mention people if needed.
  1. Everyone with access can view/reply.
